Lanzini does play that position better as that is his role.

100%. As for those who thought he played well against Chelsea - well I'm dismayed and I thought he certainly wasn't effective in the area of pitch he was supposed to be playing and often was in front of the back four or stepping on Rice and Souceks toes. He can't play there and it's unfair to ask him to when the large part of his career it's been a deeper role.

I want Noble to be respected for what he has and does for the club, not how off the pace and out of his depth he is made to look by weird managerial decisions.

Re: Mark Noble West Ham Legend
Played well against Chelsea as we had the ball.
Didn't against Brighton as we never got the ball.

Strange as if anything I'd assume it would have been the other way around

Re: Mark Noble West Ham Legend
Hope recent games don’t tarnish what is a great career for us.

Reminds me a bit of last year of Nolan who got loads of stick when the stick was actually aimed at Big Sam for picking him and Carroll when we had found a nice partnership with Downing behind Sakho

Noble only played the number 10 role when he first broke into the team when he was 17 and 18.
In our good season of 2015/16 when he deserved an England place he was playing in a two behind the attacking players. Payet and Lanzini ahead of him.
What possesses any manager to think he can play that role now.

He got better against Chelsea when he dropped deeper ( either by choice or tactical change)

Re: Mark Noble West Ham Legend
I love Mark Noble but he can't play in that position again. I actually feel sorry for him and blame Moyes entirely. Two games running up there with Haller and not one chance created. 172 MINUTES and not one shot on target says it all. The only way Noble can play is in a midfield of 3 with two quick skillfull fullbacks like Liverpool, who create chances and defend as a unit.We don't have that so no way in I'm afraid.
I also don't blame Haller that much either,it's so frustrating having Moyes as our manager. I don't want us to lose but having him here any longer willnot only tarnish a legend in Mark Noble but stop us progrssing, sad.

Re: Mark Noble West Ham Legend
Yesterday was him done for me in a WHU shirt.

He is too slow, on and off the ball. No pace, doesnt get near anyone to press them then on the ball anything over a 10 yard easy pass seems above him. We havent scored with him playing this season......that speaks for itself.

What was Moyes thinking putting him in a 10 role too......when he was a spring chicken he wasnt exactly a goal machine or laying on assists week on week off

Based on yday i think he may struggle even against Stockport

WHU ledge, but now is time to depart

That’s roughly what I said on the match thread, how Noble can do a decent job if he stays up with the attackers, but he kept dropping deep which meant he’d be stepping on the toes of Rice and Soucek. He should have had more faith in those two to do the job defensively and stayed up the pitch more, thereby giving them an extra option to pass to from deep, and Haller an extra man to find when he won his ariel duels.

Would still do a job in the championship, could see him playing for QPR or Luton on loan.

I just hope the sheer tight arsery of this board .Doesn't make noble the scapegoat if this season goes tits up. I've never been his biggest fan. but it ain't his fault if the two bobs are tight ' to buy his replacement.

Re: Mark Noble West Ham Legend
I'll tell you a big part of the reason why we were so crap in the first half against Brighton - two words - Mark Noble. The thing is, he is used to being the driving force of the team, the main man in a poor to average side. But if he comes in now, he's coming into a side that has been doing very nicely without him and really doesn't need him any more, thanks to the presence of two far superior midfielders in the shape of Rice and Soucek. Yesterday he was clearly supposed to be playing in a n advanced, no.10 sort of role, but what does he do? He gets back into his old habits, he drops deep and takes the ball off the CBs, because he still sees himself as the main man and wants to start all our moves off from deep, which is not the job he was given to do. So Rice and Soucek don't know whether they're coming or going and the whole thing looks like a dog's dinner. That's why he was pulled at half time. The only way he should get in the side now is if Rice or Soucek is injured, but we badly need better cover.

Re: Mark Noble West Ham Legend
What is strange is it not being recognised that he has been a good player throughout his time. Not great, but good. I even think he played well last season, at times in the number 10 role albeit with Antonio in the team and not Haller. I still think he has a role at the club but Moyes needs to have a rethink about how to use him.

Re: Mark Noble West Ham Legend
I think his record speaks for itself, over 500 appearances, club Captain for 4 or 5 years, served over 9 Managers, a players player and good penalty taker. However, simple fact is Mr West Ham is not in the same league as Moore, Hurst, Peter's, Brooking, Bonds, Lampard Snr, Parkes, Devo and Alvin.

Yeh, he was more known as Hadleigh as well (an English gent).
Geno was cos he was a genius on the pitch (and off it). The dexys song then added a bit of a tune to it.
TG (reggie) was after reggie kray apparently (for his sharp wit), though never really saw the link in that one. TG’s a good laugh though and has a beer with our supporters at away games now and again.

Anyway I’m going in too deep here! Got headache.

chill, I was the first rep!y on this thread, so go back and read what I said. I'm one of the few who isn't up his arse because he comes from canning town, like I do myself. I was talking about understanding a players mentality, and wanting to play. the bigger problem with the club is about 4ft 10inches tall and wears a russian tank commander's uniform

First time I've heard that one. I always thought he was 'Hadleigh' after a tv character.

Can anyone explain Tony Gale's nickname REGGIE? I know it's after one of the Krays, but Tony seems a decent guy to me.
